AN OPEN LETTER TO THE JUDGE IN THE MADOFF CASE

.....But when sentencing Mr. Madoff, I'd also like you to consider the terrible effect that his avarice has had on everyone in the country.
There are, of course, the charities that won't be able to do their work; the schools that won't be able to educate their students, the medical and research centers that will be millions short because of Mr. Madoff's greed.....

.....By perpetrating this Ponzi scheme for decades - and, as traders have told me, cheating even before then - Mr. Madoff has helped undercut the very foundation of our free market system.

Who can you trust nowadays? .....I would suggest that the court and prosecutor go down the list of people who've lost money to Mr. Madoff. His family should not live any better than the ones who have suffered the most.

If that means that the Madoffs will have to rent a shack for the rest of their lives, so be it.

If that means they will shop at Goodwill or clip food coupons that's the way it should be.
